House of Opposites

This research station for geologists and astronomers in Chile’s Atacama Desert separates and combines live and work spaces with a massive crevasse that splits the facility into two main parts. The station also ties the earth and sky together through dynamic sectional changes and multiple viewing platforms placed throughout the site. The scientists can go down into the ground to look up at the stars through the grand conical and look down at the earth from the satellite pavilion.
